PROPOSALS

A proposal is a detailed request for funding prepared in accordance with the sponsor’s instructions. A sponsor can be a federal, state, or local agency, a private foundation, a corporation or other business entity.

  • A proposal must comply with University of Arizona policies and sponsor requirements.
  • A proposal, upon submission, becomes an official record of the work the University of Arizona proposes to do for the sponsor.

All funding received from a sponsor require both the sponsor submission as well as an internal proposal routed through UAccess Research (UA's internal research system). If an award is received without an internal proposal, this will hold up your award and ablity to spend.

Steward Observatory is now working in partnership with Sponsored Projects to route our proposals both internally and externally. This has increased our ability to handle the increasing amount and complexity of proposals our amazing department submits.

POST AWARD

Please communicate with us regarding your accounts and any no cost extensions. We regularly review accounts, provide summaries and projections, take care of transfers and position funding, as well as many other post award tasks. We maintain daily contact with UA Sponsored Projects and will alert you of any outstanding reports or deficits.

What are Effort Certs? Error Certifications (electronic after-the-fact activity reports) are a summary of pay on federally sponsored accounts. At UA, this is done every 6 months (Jan-June and July-Dec). Fiscal Officers and PI's have 30 days to review and approve.
