Faculty in Steward Observatory's Theory, Data and Computation (TDC) Research Group are pushing the forefront of computational and theoretical astronomy in areas including cosmology, structure formation, dark matter physics, orbital dynamics, galaxy evolution, stellar evolution, planet formation, black holes, neutron stars, numerical general relativity, astrophysical turbulence, and plasma astrophysics, among many other research topics. Computational methods include machine learning, GR simulations, magnetohydrodynamical simulations, ray-tracing, N-body simulations, and empirical models, among others, running across dozens to millions of processors and/or GPUs. TDC members value open, accessible code and datasets, and run training programs to help new group members (including undergraduates) get started with high-performance computing.
The TDC group is supported by project manager Rosie Johnson and administrator Audra White.
