The University of Arizona invites community members to attend a meeting to hear about Steward Observatory Catalina Station Master Development Plan
The University of Arizona invites community members to attend a meeting to hear about the Steward Observatory Catalina Station Master Development Plan.
Representatives from Steward Observatory and Department of Astronomy will share our present and future research activities, observatory operations, and outreach programs. We will share updates to our 10-year Master Development Plan (MDP), a living document that promotes communication regarding our aspirations for our on-going and future activities in the Catalina mountains. We will present some of the proposed new projects that will be seeking to start in the next few years. There will be an opportunity for everyone to ask questions and to provide feedback regarding our proposed activities.
Event: First Meeting
Event: Second Meeting
For over a century, the students, staff, and faculty of the University of Arizona’s Steward Observatory (UASO) and Department of Astronomy have been exploring the universe together and sharing what we have learned with the public through our educational and outreach programs. Since the 1960s, UA has operated, under special use permits, scientific and educational facilities located at the Mount Bigelow (2.2-acres) and Mount Lemmon (24.5-acres) sites, located in the Santa Catalina Mountains in the Coronado National Forest. Together these two sites are the Catalina Station of the Steward Observatory of the University of Arizona. From these sites, UASO and our collaborators have conducted world-leading research and transformational educational and outreach programs for the public.
