Professor, Astronomy and Planetary Sciences
Astronomer, Steward Observatory
Associate Dean for Research, College of Science
Daniel's research focuses on exoplanets and astrobiology, with particular emphasis on habitable planets and planetary systems. He leads large programs to understand the formation and habitability of nearby planetary systems and to characterize and map exoplanet and brown dwarf atmospheres. He also leads the Nautilus Space Observatory concept, a project that explores a radical novel space telescope architecture with the goal of characterizing a thousand potentially earth-like exoplanets.
