Andy Monson

Associate Research Professor, Steward Observatory

Andy's primary interests are in astronomical instrumentation, observation and data reduction. This includes the development of the tools, techniques and best practices necessary for reliable and precise measurements. He is also interested in fundamental observable astrophysical quantities, in particular related to distance scale, which includes variable stars and time domain measurements. These interests span exoplanets around relatively nearby stars to observing stars in distant galaxies to measuring the expansion rate of the Universe. Each of these observations continue to demand higher and higher precisions that require implementing and pushing available technology to the limits.
