The Mid InfraRed Instrument (MIRI) will provide the JWST with imaging and spectroscopy at wavelengths from 5 through 28.5 microns. Because it operates in space and at cryogenic temperatures, JWST will provide unprecedented sensitivity across the entire MIRI operating range. MIRI is an international collaboration among a European Consortium (EC) of European partners, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), an international science team, NASA, and ESA.
