The University of Arizona Observatories runs or is partners in a large number of optical/infrared and radio telescopes on several mountains. Faculty and students at UA, ASU, and NAU apply to telescopes through our telescope allocation committee (TAC). In addition, some telescope time is on occasion available to the general astronomical community through NOAO.
