Stratospheric Terahertz Observatory (STO)

STO, the Stratospheric Terahertz Observatory, is a balloon-borne 80 cm telescope with 4-pixel cryogenic heterodyne receiver arrays at 1.4 to 1.9 THz, exploring the Milky Way in the far-infrared [CII] and [NII] lines.  STO had a successful 14-day Antarctic flight in January 2012.  For more information see the Stratospheric Terahertz Observatory website.
