Aysha Aamer
Aysha Aamer is a PhD candidate at Queen’s University Belfast and an incoming postdoctoral research associate, specializing in the study of explosive transients. Her research focuses on the identification, observation, classification, and follow-up of energetic astrophysical events, including supernovae and tidal disruption events. During her PhD, she studied superluminous supernovae, exploring their connections to other transient classes and their underlying powering mechanisms. She also has experience using polarimetry to probe the geometry of these extreme explosions. Her work aims to unravel the physical drivers of these transients by combining observational data with statistical analyses, providing new insights into their progenitors, emission mechanisms, and the role of their environments.
