John Ford

Principal Engineer, Steward Observatory

Dr. Ford is a Principal Engineer in the Engineering and Technical Services group at Steward Observatory, where he designs high-performance electronics and instrumentation for advanced telescopes. He is the principal designer of the primary mirror cell electronics for the Giant Magellan Telescope and several other major telescope projects. In addition, he developed the FPGA-based electronics for the MMT Adaptive Secondary Mirror, among many other complex systems. His broader interests include radio frequency electronics, signal processing, and control systems for radio astronomy.
