On May 13, 2021, we used a "Webinar" program to join from around the world: Faculty, staff, parents, friends, relatives, and astronomy alumni. We all gathered to honor our 18 graduating students including 18 undergraduate astronomy majors, eight minors (Astronomy; Astronomical Studies), and five Ph.D. graduates. The list of names follows this text.
Our speaker was Dr. Andrea Ghez (Professor of Physics & Astronomy at UCLA), who shared the Nobel Prize (2020) in Physics for her pioneering research on the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. The TEXT of Dr. Ghez's speech was inspirational and included excellent mentoring advice. You can watch the 60 min audio/video HERE.
Congratulations and good luck to everyone, and special thanks to everyone who made this graduation possible, especially Aidan Nakhleh and Bing Nguyen.
If you are interested in majoring in astronomy at UArizona, the presentation also provides a Department-wide perspective of our undergraduate program, including opportunities for research, funding, and inter-Department programming available to our students.
