Enrique Paillas

Enrique Paillas

Prize Fellowship in Cosmological Data Analysis

Enrique obtained his PhD in Astrophysics in 2021 from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. His research revolves around observational cosmology and the large-scale structure of the Universe. He is interested in using galaxy surveys to learn about dark energy, the formation of cosmic structure, and fundamental physics in general. His work combines theory and observations, developing new statistical tools to extract information using galaxy clustering, and applying them to large observational data sets. He is an active member of the DESI Collaboration, where he uses baryon acoustic oscillations to measure the expansion history of the Universe with high precision and builds galaxy clustering models powered by artificial intelligence.
