Chad Bender
Chad Bender
Associate Astronomer, Steward Observatory
Dr. Bender builds visible and near-infrared high-resolution spectrometers for the detection and characterization of exoplanets and their atmospheres. He is the Co-Principal Investigator of the Large Fiber Array Spectroscopic Telescope (LFAST) Project, which is developing new technologies for economical mass replication of telescopes to build giant arrays. He is a Co-Investigator and Instrument Scientist on the extreme precision radial-velocity spectrometers HPF and NEID, and leads the software team developing new algorithms to further exploit these rich data sets. He uses data from these and other spectrometers to probe the dynamics of exoplanet systems and the physics of planet atmospheres.
