Bhagya Subrayan
Bhagya Subrayan is a postdoctoral research associate at the Steward Observatory, working with Prof. Dave Sand on time-domain astrophysics and multi-wavelength observations of transients. She completed her Integrated BS-MS program at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Thiruvananthapuram, and earned her PhD from Purdue University in 2024. During her graduate studies, she focused on real-time characterization of core-collapse supernovae, anomaly detection, and the prioritization of transients from all-sky surveys like ZTF. Her work is dedicated to building cyberinfrastructure to optimize follow-up strategies in the era of LSST. Bhagya's research interests include multi-wavelength observations of astrophysical transients, understanding core-collapse supernovae and tidal disruption events, and investigating precursor activities and mass-loss mechanisms in massive stars. She is passionate about taking on leadership roles and is a dedicated advocate for supporting women and underrepresented groups in STEM.
Research Interests: Time-Domain Astrophysics, Multiwavelength Observations of Astrophysical Transients, Maximizing Scientific Return from All-Sky Surveys
